I am often in contact with the Capitol police or the Supreme Court marshal (ooh!) when I email Supreme Court Justices. .  There are 3 rules I follow: 1. don't threaten 2. no implied threats 3. don't influence pending Supreme Court cases. The court justices dislike communications from the public, too bad, so sad.  The justices are public figures, subject to scrutiny just like any other public official.
